Hades is the god of the Underworld, the god of the dead, the god of riches and wealth of the earth. He deals with valuable metals and jewels because they are found underground, which is Hades’ domain. He is known to be very determined and persistent.
The Underworld, Which hades rules, is home to the spirits of those who have died, those who sleep and dream, and those who have been banished form earth. When the Gods decided who was going to rule what they drew for it and Zeus got the skies, Poseidon got the seas, and Hades was stuck with the Underworld.
Hades is a son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. He has five older siblings, which are Zeus, Poseidon, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter. Hades' wife is Persephone, whom is his niece and was brought down to the underworld by her mother, Hades sister, Demeter.
Hades and the other young gods were swallowed by their father Cronus ,the god of time, in order to prevent the prophecy that one day one of the young gods would replace him in his throne which obviously , he did not want.
Hades’ appearance is close to that of Zeus. He has a beard, like Zeus. He carries a scepter as a symbol of power and it is a way to open the gate to the Underworld and a horn of plentiness filled with precious jewels and metals because they are found underground, which is hades’ domain. They are considered to be his symbols.
Hades received weapons from the Cyclopes, a race of one eyed giants, to help in the war against the Titans for supreme rule over the realms. He got the Helm of Darkness from them. The night before the first battle, Hades put on his helmet and, being invisible, slipped over to the Titans' camp on Mount Othrys and destroyed their weapons. The war lasted for ten years and ended with the victory by the young gods.
Cerberus whom guarded the gates of the Underworld for hades was described as a three-headed dog with a serpent's tail, a mane of snakes, and a lion's claws. He was the offspring of Echidna, part human, part serpent and Typhon, a fire-breathing giant. He was set at the gates of the Underworld on the river of Styx to prevent ghosts of the dead from leaving.
Hades wanted a “queen of the underworld “ so he asked Persephone’s father, Zeus, if he could take her hand in marriage. Zeus said yes so instead of wooing her and asking her to marry him, he abducted her and made a whole scheme to trap her in the Underworld with him.
Hades has only showed mercy once. It was to a man named Orpheus, a legendary musician, poet, and prophet. After the death of his wife, Eurydice, he couldn’t stop grieving over her so he got permission to travel to the Underworld in hopes that Hades would listen to his plea and let him have Eurydice back. Hades said he yes because of Orpheus’ beautiful voice. Orpheus would have to travel out of the Underworld without looking back at his wife. He failed when he got out but his wife was still in the Underworld and he looked back at her and she was sucked back to the Underworld for eternity.
The other permanent guests who have duties both in the Underworld and on earth, and therefore can come and go freely, are: Thanatos, who is god of peaceful death, Hypnos, who is the god of people’s sleep, and Morpheus, who is the god of people’s dreams.
Explanation of colors and music For the colors on my page i chose dark colors like black to represent "death" and the loneliness of the Underworld . I also used red a lot to represent the the fire in the Underworld.
For my Music i made it kind of dark and omanis in the beginning and then at the breakdown you hear a dogs bark to represent the guardian of the gates of hell, Cerberus and then after that its mostly a metal/rock type theme to show the "darkness" of the Underworld.
